When all else fails, chick lit can thank God for Marian Keyes! In this story, Keyes works her usual magic as we meet literary agent Jojo who has made a serious career faux pas by bedding her married boss Mark.
The good news is that Jojo’s client Lily has a debut novel that is quickly becoming a success. Lily and her lover Anton are so excited that they blow her advance on her second book. As luck would have it, Lily suddenly gets writer’s block. On top of that, Lily’s ex-best friend Gemma (thick as thieves until Lily stole Anton away from her) is working on her own novel that Jojo happens to stumble upon.
What will become of these three women hoping to make it big in the publishing world, especially when there is always another side to every story?
Readers will appreciate the telltale voice and writing of Keyes, who draws us in to the intriguing lives of three charismatic women. That alone makes the book energetic and captivating, even when the plot wanes at times. The good news is that the majority of readers have given the book rave reviews, although some readers criticize the plot for being “terribly boring”, causing them to put the book down partway through.
