The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger Review

By now, you are probably quite familiar with the movie The Devil Wears Prada starring Anne Hathaway. But have you taken the time to read the book? This novel is a staple of chick lit inspired by the author’s time spent as a personal assistant to the editor of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour.

The star of the book, Andrea, begins work as an assistant for the notoriously evil Miranda Priestly, the editor of Runway magazine. Sound familiar so far? Miranda behaves like the true diva that she has been rumored to be with insane and over the top requests for her assistant Andrea. Andy has taken the job in the hopes of climbing the career ladder to the elite journalism world in New York City, yet she realizes that she doesn’t have the style to run with some of the “big dogs” at the magazine. Andy quickly has to make over her entire look, turning off her old friends and sweet boyfriend as a result. Who has she become?

This story is hilarious at times and provides a deep look at what a girl will do to get where she wants in life. Will Andy ultimately sacrifice her relationship for her career? This is the age-old question that all of us ladies have to answer as we try to figure out what we want out of life.
